What is Sunlight Fitness?
We are based in Atlanta, Georgia and have expanded our services to include Charleston, South Carolina. We provide a range of personal training services including weight loss programs, general fitness, running coach services, and sport-specific training. Started by Kevin Semanick in the summer of 2010, our personal trainers travel to meet you at your house, in a local park, or a track near you.
What makes you better than other personal trainers in Atlanta?
We try to be unlike other personal trainers. We educate and motivate without having to scream and yell. Our philosophy as personal trainers is that our clients want to be treated with respect in a positive and nurturing environment. We also believe in designing personal training workouts and workout plans based on a firm understanding of exercise science and a thorough knowledge of the body, kinesiology, and physiology. This also means that we individualize our workouts for each person, mixing what they enjoy and what they need, so that they can achieve their ultimate goals. Put all of this together and you get our motto: “smart workouts with a smile.”
How do you individualize your workouts?
When you sign-up with us, you immediately become as important to us as our own family. We start by asking you a lot of questions about your background and your past workout history. If you’d had a personal trainer before us, we want to know what you liked about them or what you disliked about them. We also make sure to determine your short-term, intermediate, and long-term goals, as well as your timetable. Our client then eases into their first workout, testing certain fitness components.
From there, we work closely with our clients. Most sign-up for 2 weekly sessions, while others sign-up for 3 or more and occasionally choose only a weekly workout. In addition to a client’s weekly session, we also track and monitor a workout plan for days our clients don’t train with us at no extra charge. We encourage constant feedback and interaction with our clients to design the best possible workouts for each individual client.
Can your personal trainers help me accomplish my fitness goals?
We offer a range of personal trainer services so that you can accomplish any and all of your goals. Often, clients are simply looking to lose weight and look great. Our personal trainers understand that there is no quick-fix, but that it takes a commitment to a healthier lifestyle that includes a full-body workout. Although improving the cardiovascular system is important, we also emphasize firming up the body and improving metabolism, energy, and attitude.
Another popular goal for our clients is to assist them in improving their ability to jog and run. We understand the difficulties of jogging a mile or even running a quarter-mile. Our lead personal trainer and owner, Kevin Semanick is a former track and field coach that is slowly developing a system for beginners that want to experience the rush of a successful 5k or first half-marathon finish. The system blends shorter intervals at faster than race pace with higher volume workouts. In a short time our clients run farther and faster than ever before.
The personal trainers at Sunlight Fitness can help with other goals too. We have clients that love exercise, but simply need help staying motivated. Others lack the knowledge of our personal trainers and need assistance to stay fit. There is also another niche of people that struggle with exercise and find our positive spirit inspiring.
What type of exercises do you teach and utilize in your personal training sessions?
Our personal trainers believe in designing workouts that are rooted in firm exercise science principles and variety. Variety certainly helps keep one mentally sharp, but it also provides strong physiologically benefits. While one muscle group rests and recovers, another muscle group can be recruited and fatigued. Not only does this allow for a more efficient workout, but it enables good rhythm and positive cardiovascular benefits.
We start with an active warm-up to increase heart rate and stretch the muscles that will be used during the workout. These exercises slowly and continually progress as the client unknowingly has begun the thick of the training. We target the upper body, core, and lower body, sometimes simultaneously and sometimes sequentially. Certain cardiovascular elements such as running, circuit training, and other heart-rate inducing activities are included between exercises. Many potential clients new to fitness think that you need the glamor of shiny metal barbells and cabled-strength training machines. However, our personal trainers at Sunlight Fitness firmly believe in the usage of body-weight exercise, as well as the usage of medicine balls, kettle bells, and other training devices such as ropes and tennis balls.
Sunlight Fitness personal trainers know a plethora of exercises that all target different parts of the body. Out of the hundreds of different abdominal exercises and dozens of upper and lower body strengthening, combined with core and cardiovascular elements our personal training plans are unique and creative. Our goal is to help you achieve your goals while leaving our sessions satisfied.
